Stay home and stay safe…
I think now more than ever it’s important to make our home life feel as comfortable as possible. I’ve been working remotely for various businesses across the world for over a decade now. It takes a lot to be able to work from home, stay focused and then be able to shut down at the end of the day.
My husband and I both work from home and we’ve had our baby home with us ever since he was born. He had some health issues and we were always scared to take him to a daycare because of that. We didn’t want him out of our sight. Luckily, we’ve been able to manage with him being home with us. Part of that is from me being able to create a calm, tranquil environment for us to retreat to after the work day.
How can I separate work and home life?
It’s not an easy thing to do, but with a little patience and discipline, you can do it. Something that was important to me was turning off my computer at 6:00 pm or 6:30 pm every day. My son goes to sleep at 7:30 pm every night and my husband and I wanted to make sure we spent time with him, had dinner together, and did his nighttime routine together. We are both work-from-home parents and at times it’s difficult for us to shut off our computers and focus on what really matters.

Whenever I hop into bed with clean sheets, I feel like a new person. It takes all the stress of the day away and relaxes me. Simple changes like this can have a huge impact on your mental health.

What are you doing to help your mental health during quarantine? Perhaps you’re reading a new book or exercising inside for a few minutes every day. Whatever it is that you are doing to make yourself happy, keep doing it.
I’ve really been enjoying cooking more during the quarantine. I’ve always loved to cook, but after having our son all of my focus and attention went to him. I share a lot of my recipes on here and you should check them out!
We also decided to buy a Peloton. It allows us to bring the gym home to us. I like to go on quick 20-30 minute rides during my lunch breaks at work. Sometimes I have back issues from working on a computer all day, and this has helped me a ton to get blood circulation and pulls me out of a mind fog. If you are thinking of pulling the trigger on a Peloton, we can’t say enough good things about it. It was completely worth the money for us.
