American Goulash Recipe

This classic American Goulash is a comforting, one-pot meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights. With ground beef, elbow macaroni, and a flavorful tomato-based sauce seasoned with garlic, paprika, and Italian herbs, it’s a dish that’s sure to please the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 (14.5) ounce cans diced tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni

Instructions

  • Cook the beef. Heat a Dutch oven on medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and then add the ground beef. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned. About 10 minutes. Add the diced onion, and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  • Cook the pasta. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Cook the pasta per box instructions then drain.

  • Combine the ingredients. Add the broth, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, paprika, and bay leaves. Bring to a boil then turn down and simmer. Add the cooked pasta and gently stir.

  • Opt for ground turkey or chicken instead of ground beef to swap a leaner protein into the meal.
