Yoda cocktail MAIN

Whether it’s May the 4th (be with you) or just a fun night with friends, this Star Wars-inspired Yoda Cocktail is a great addition to your drink menu (kid-friendly version below!).

Who is Yoda? He’s a tiny, green, humanoid alien who’s incredibly wise and powerful with the Force, an energy field that binds the galaxy together.

And I think, he’s the cutest of all the Star Wars characters.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Really Delicious: This drink is basically a Yoda-shaped Margarita, and you can’t go wrong with a Margarita!
  • Really Cute: We all love Yoda, and this drink is a strikingly cute resemblance to the character.
  • Really Easy To Make: Skip the blenders, this is a simple shaken cocktail that looks adorable and is ready in minutes!

What to serve with a Yoda Cocktail?

This Yoda Cocktail is perfect on its own as a refreshing pick-me-up. But if you’re looking for some snacks or appetizers to serve alongside it, here are a few ideas:

  • Chips and Guacamole: This Mexican Margarita-style drink goes perfectly with a classic bowl of chips and guac!
  • Salsa and Queso Fundido: Up the ante on your chips and dip with a delicious serving of salsa and melty queso fundido served with homemade zucchini chips.
  • Chicken Carnitas Tacos: These handheld tacos are the perfect finger food for parties. Best of all, my Chicken Carnitas can be made in the Instant Pot!

Yoda Cocktail Ingredients

  • Tequila: Use your favorite brand. For a smoky twist, try mezcal. If you’re not a fan of tequila, you can substitute vodka for a slightly milder flavor.
  • Margarita Mix: If you don’t have margarita mix, you can use limeade or another favorite citrusy drink.
  • Lime Wedges
  • Large Blueberries: Blackberries or raspberries would also be delicious as Yoda’s “eyes.”

If you want your drink to be a bit spicy, add a jalapeno slice to the shaker for a kick! Just be sure to remove it before serving.

How To Make A Yoda Cocktail

STEP ONE: Shake it up. In a shaker with ice, add the Tequila and Lime Margarita Mix. Shake vigorously and set aside.

STEP TWO: Prep the glasses. Take the brown packing paper and form it around the stem of the coupe glass. Wrap the butcher’s twine around it and secure it with a knot. This is Yoda’s outfit.

STEP THREE: Assemble the drinks. Strain the drinks out of the shaker into the glasses. Take the lime wedges and slice a sliver in the middle of the wedge so that when they are placed on the rim of the glass, they stick up to resemble the ears. Drop your large blueberries into the glass as the eyes.

Tips and Recipe Notes

  • A good shake will ensure your drink is nice and cold, and perfectly blended. Aim for 15-20 seconds of vigorous shaking.
  • Chilling your glasses beforehand will keep your drink colder for longer.

FAQs

Do I have to use brown packing paper? Can I use something else?

Not at all! The brown paper is just for fun to resemble Yoda’s robes. You can use any color paper you like, or even skip it altogether.

I don’t have butcher’s twine. What can I use instead?

No problem! You can use ribbon, string, or even a small rubber band to secure the paper “robes” around the glass stem.

My margaritas are too tart. What can I do?

If your margarita mix is a little too tart for your taste, try adding a splash of simple syrup or agave nectar to sweeten it up.

My margaritas aren’t strong enough. How can I make them stronger?

You can add an extra ounce of tequila for a stronger drink.

How to Store Leftover Yoda Cocktail

Your leftover shaken cocktail can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. It should stay fresh and continue to taste great! However, we recommend making fresh lime wedges and using fresh blueberries for the best flavor and presentation.

Can I make Yoda Cocktails ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can pre-make the cocktail mix and store it in the fridge for up to three days. Just wait to assemble the drinks with ice and the Yoda garnish until you’re ready to serve.

If you want to double, triple, or even quadruple the recipe, you can, but it’s important to remember that shaking this drink over ice is what makes it cold and tasty. You might want to reshake portions before serving.

How do I make this drink non-alcoholic?

You can easily mix together limeaid or margarita mixer with a splash of Sprite or your favorite lemon-lime soda. Decorate and garnish the same for a fun, kid-friendly version.
